Farm In Bytes Application (Agro FIBA)
The Project allows an integration of Information technology in the agricultural sector/industry, making technical agricultural expertise accessible, swift and affordable to farmers via their mobile phones and online.
The Project will also deal with capacity building for farmer organizations and cooperatives by training them in improved production technologies and value-chain development through agribusiness skills.
It aims at bringing agricultural industry in light where it interacts with other industries and gives farmers up-to-date information, which facilitates them to produce for market rather than being subsistence farmers who solely produce for their families.
Creating employment, at the same time with the Project expansion, so it would directly contribute to country’s economic development and improve these subsistence farmers’ standards of living.
Connecting farmers to extension officers and to markets they can sell to, in order to encourage them to a paradigm shift from subsistence farming to market oriented farming as highlighted in the Economic Development Poverty and Reduction Strategy (EDPRS) and VISION 2020.
